About our Rescue

RIP Sweet Destiny
We are a small group of people that all share the same passion for animals. We have all volunteered for other shelters and rescues. We finally decided that we were ready to start our own rescue to try to help animals that are stuck in high-kill shelters. Our goal is to be patient and thorough when searching for the best home for our animals. We are a group who will ask hard questions. We will be honest and we will always follow through in calling your references. We will not take any chances with the future of our animals! We will also not put the animals or adopters at risk. All animals are temperament tested before they are put up for adoption.
Please help Jade!
Jade came to Heroes on January 22nd. She has mangled her foot and chewed off a few toes because of extreme and untreated infection. Her owner is in jail and her current caretaker will be heading to jail.
After a visit with our vet, Jade will be going in on January 26th to have her front leg amputated. Our vet feels this is the best thing for Jade due to the extent of damage to the paw as well due to the amount of pain Jade is in. He feels she will heal faster with less pain doing an amputation. She will also be spayed so she doesn't have to go under again.
Please keep Jade in your prayers as she has a rough week ahead of her. She will continue her medication to keep her as comfortable as possible until she is healed and feeling better!
Please consider donating using the Chip-in button below to help defray her escalating medical costs.
If you prefer to make a donation directly to the vet's office please mail your donation to:
Hoover Road Animal Hospital
31170 Hoover Road
Warren, MI 48093
(If doing a check donation, write "Jade" on the memo line along with Heroes' account #2238)
The vet also accept over the phone credit card donations @ 586-795-3500 (reference Jade and account #2238). We will continue to update Jade's progress on our Facebook site.

You can be a Hero too!

RIP Sweet Kobe
Meet Kobe. Kobe was taken from a home with no electricity or running water! He came to us acting fiesty and happy. The next day, he took a turn for the worse and could not hold down food or water. After a visit to the vet, it was confirmed that poor Kobe had parvo. Through the generosity of supporters, Heroes was able to begin treatment for Kobe. Sadly, he died a couple of days later.
There are many more animals out there like Kobe. Our goal is to help as many of them as we can. But, it takes funds in order to give these animals a fighting second chance.
Almost every animal that comes to us from high kill shelters must be treated for upper respiratory infections and/or kennel cough. We have pulled many malnourished animals, pets with skin problems, gangrene and false pregnancies.
Without donations, we would not be able to give the animals the care they need and deserve. Please help if you can!

Urgent! Fosters Needed
Heroes for Homeless Animals is in urgent need of good foster homes. We are constantly striving to save more lives. We pull most of our animals from Oakland County Animal Control, where all pit bulls are euthanized if we aren't able to bring them into our rescue. With your help, we can save more!
